General Chiropractic Questions

Q: What conditions can chiropractic care help with?
Chiropractic care can help with a wide range of conditions including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, joint pain, and general tension. Many of our patients see improvements with other conditions such as heartburn, extremities issues, and improved sleep to name a few. We also specialize in prenatal and pediatric care for expecting moms, infants, and children.

Q: Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. Chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare available when provided by a licensed and trained professional. Dr. Steven Hedges and Dr. Gabriela Guadalupe are both doctoral-level graduates of Sherman College of Chiropractic and are trained to provide safe, effective care for patients of all ages.

Q: Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients find adjustments to be comfortable and even relieving. Some people experience mild soreness afterward, similar to how you might feel after a workout, but this typically passes within a day or two.

Q: How many visits will I need?
Every patient is different. After your first visit exam we will recommend a care plan tailored to your specific needs and goals. Some patients feel significant relief after just a few visits while others benefit from ongoing wellness care.

Q: How often should I see a chiropractor?
This depends on your individual situation. Patients dealing with acute pain may be seen more frequently at first, then taper down as they improve. Many patients choose to continue with monthly wellness visits to maintain their results and support overall health.

Q: Do you see patients of all ages?
Absolutely. We are a family practice and see patients from newborns all the way through seniors. Our youngest patient has been 3 days old while our oldest patient was 99. Everyone in your family is welcome at Heritage Clinic.

Prenatal Chiropractic Questions

Q: Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Chiropractic care is safe throughout all trimesters of pregnancy when provided by a trained practitioner. Dr. Gabriela Guadalupe is Webster Technique certified through the ICPA and specializes in prenatal chiropractic care. Our table is also specially equipped to accommodate expecting moms comfortably.

Q: What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and gentle adjustment designed for pregnant women. It focuses on the sacrum and pelvis to reduce tension in the surrounding muscles and ligaments. Dr. Gabby is certified in this technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

Q: When during pregnancy should I start chiropractic care?
You can begin chiropractic care at any point during your pregnancy. Many moms start in the first trimester and continue throughout. Others come to us later in pregnancy for specific concerns like back pain, round ligament pain, or pelvic discomfort. The best time to start is now!

Q: Can chiropractic care help with back pain during pregnancy?
Yes. Back pain is one of the most common reasons expecting moms seek chiropractic care. As your body changes and your center of gravity shifts, the spine and pelvis can come under significant stress. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can provide meaningful relief without medication.

Q: Can I still get adjusted if I am in my third trimester?
Yes. We see moms throughout all three trimesters including right up to their due date. We use positioning and techniques that are safe and comfortable no matter how far along you are.

Q: Will chiropractic care help with my baby's positioning?
The Webster Technique focuses on restoring balance to the pelvis and reducing tension in the uterine ligaments, which may allow your baby to move into an optimal position. Many moms and midwives report positive results. We always recommend working alongside your OB or midwife throughout your pregnancy.

Pediatric Chiropractic Questions

Q: Is chiropractic care safe for babies and children?
Yes. Pediatric chiropractic care uses extremely gentle techniques that are nothing like adult adjustments. The pressure used for infants is very light, similar to the gentle touch you might rest on your baby's cheek. It is safe, effective, and well tolerated by children of all ages.

Q: How young can a baby be to receive chiropractic care?
There is no minimum age. We see newborns as young as a few days old. Many parents bring their babies in during their first week home after noticing difficulty latching, fussiness, or trouble sleeping.

Q: What conditions can infant chiropractic care help with?
Common reasons parents bring their babies in include difficulty nursing or latching, colic, excessive fussiness, sleep trouble, torticollis, and recurring ear infections.

Q: What does an adjustment feel like for an infant?
The pressure used is extremely light. Most babies stay calm and many actually fall asleep during the adjustment. There is no twisting or cracking involved.

Q: Why would my child need chiropractic care?
Children's spines go through a lot from birth onward. Falls, sports, heavy backpacks, and long hours sitting at school can all affect spinal alignment and nervous system function. Chiropractic care helps keep kids moving, growing, and feeling their best.

Q: Do you need a referral from a pediatrician to bring my child in?
No referral is needed. You are welcome to call or book online directly at any time.
